What it is
In the places taking part you can taste the specialities of traditional Ticinese regional cooking, with pride of place for game, as this is its season. The participants prepare the dishes of our culinary tradition, seasonal specialities, classic or given a modern twist: new and old flavours together, warmth and the pleasure of sharing a table.
The traditional “guest”
Among the participants there is also the traditional “guest”: the one place outside the region, invited by the Committee for the edition. It does not have a page on the participants list yet.
The president’s greeting
Dear Friends of the Rassegna Gastronomica del Mendrisiotto e Basso Ceresio,
on behalf of the Organising Committee I send you my warm greetings and invite you to leaf through the booklet of this edition.
What each participant offers is mostly of local inspiration, with a preference for seasonal cooking, but you will also find novelties and unusual flavours. I am certain that the dish to your liking will not be missing: one that may awaken old memories or that, on the contrary, will have you discover new and tempting tastes.
With the wish that you may travel a pleasant food and wine itinerary, I greet you and, on behalf of the Committee, offer you the most cordial bon appétit.
— Mamo Quadranti, president

The three competitions
The wine competition
A competition among the wine estates of the Region. The wines presented are judged by a group of professionals who, in a blind tasting, choose the best: that one becomes the wine of the Rassegna and, from the first day until the following edition, it is offered at a promotional price in every participating place. The wine of edition 62 is the Mezzana Ticino DOC Merlot 2022, from the Azienda agraria cantonale di Mezzana, chosen from six.
The photography competition
A photograph for the Rassegna: the theme of edition 63 is “Hands in the dough”. The competition is free and open to all, except the members of the jury, which is made up of four members of the Committee, a representative of Mendrisiotto Turismo and a graphic designer. The use of artificial intelligence is forbidden. The winning photograph receives CHF 500.– in cash; the second and the third a gift from the Rassegna and a CHF 100.– voucher to spend in the participating places.
The winning image becomes the image of the edition: labels for the wine, the official booklet, posters, menu cards. The author’s name is published beneath the image on all the printed material.

The drawing competition
Reserved for the young guests who order the children’s dish, in three age categories. A jury chooses the three winners of each category and the prize-giving is held in December, in a shop in Mendrisio, where the drawings stay on show.
